إستونيا: البلاد تسجل أعلى معدل إصابات بكوفيد في الاتحاد الأوروبي لكل 100 ألف شخص

أصبحت إستونيا يوم الاثنين صاحبة أعلى معدل إصابات بكوفيد- 19 بين الدول الأوروبية لكل 100 ألف شخص، وفق وسائل إعلام محلية. وتُظهر لقطات مصورة طاقما طبيا يجمع العينات لإجراء اختبار “بي سي آر” في تالين. وأوضح بيتر جارفيليد، الأستاذ في جامعة تالين، أن الفيروس يتفشى بوتيرة متسارعة في البلاد، عازيا ذلك إلى المعلومات المتضاربة التي تقدمها السلطات، فضلا عن ضعف التواصل بين سلطات الدولة والحكومات المحلية. وقال جارفيليد: “ما زلنا نجهل ما تعنيه الجائحة تماما وكيفية وصولها إلى كل إنسان. وأود القول إنه كان علينا في أستونيا التوجّه إلى الحكومات المحلية بوقت مبكر”. وأردف أن على الناس “التوقف عن اللعب بورقة الديمقراطية” لعجزهم عن استيعاب “الخطر المحدق بنا في حال تفشي الجائحة”. ورفعت إستونيا في الوقت الراهن من درجة الإنذار المتعلق بتفشي فيروس كورونا إلى “الأحمر”، وهو الأعلى في أوروبا.

Estonia: Country ranks worst in EU for most COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents

Estonia became the European country with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Monday, local media reported. Footage shows medical staff taking samples for a PCR test in Tallinn. Peeter Jarvelaid, a professor at the University of Tallinn, said the virus is spreading fast in the county because of conflicting information from authorities and a lack of communication between state authorities and higher-level governments. “We still do not quite understand what ‘pandemic’ means and how to reach every person. I would say that in Estonia we should have turned to local governments earlier,” Jarvelaid stated. He also said that people “have to stop playing democracy,” because they can’t understand “what is danger in a pandemic situation.” Estonia currently has the highest, “red” threat level for the spread of the coronavirus in Europe.
